Sailfish 106

Sailfish (Istiophorus platypterus) are native to the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and naturalized in the Atlantic. They have a characteristic erectile dorsal fin known as a “sail”, which often stretches across the back, and can be taller than the length of their bodies. Their upper jaw is elongated in the form of a spear, resembling that of the swordfish and other marlins. They are widely considered the fastest fish in the ocean, clocking in at speeds of 70 mph! Its speed and vigor make this a prized trophy for anglers.
