Sheephead 125

The California Sheephead (Semicossyphus pulcher) is a species of wrasse native to the eastern Pacific Ocean. It ranges from Monterey Bay, California, to the Gulf of California, Mexico. It can live for up to 20 years in good conditions, and can grow up to 3 ft (91 cm) and weigh as much as 35 lb (16 kg). The Sheephead is carnivorous, living in rocky reef and kelp bed habitats, feeding primarily on sea urchins, molluscs, and crustaceans.
